Modular
Flexibility and Functionality
The Samsung DCS
is a modular, future-proof telephone
system, which gives unrivalled flexibility and functionality and can be
configured as a PABX, keysystem or any combination of these, according to
your requirements.
Designed for small-to-medium sized companies, the Samsung DCS
is offered in two basic configurations: the DCS Compact, which offers up
to 54 ports; and the DCS, which with its modular cabinet architecture can
be expanded up to 202 ports per site.
Whichever version you choose, you get a telephone platform which
gives you all of the features you would expect from the most sophisticated
corporate PBXs, at a fraction of the price.
Using the latest digital technology, the Samsung DCS offers
Primary Rate and Basic Rate ISDN compatibility, Computer Telephony
Integration functionality, Automatic Call Distribution working, support
for DECT cordless handsets, and many other features to ensure that you get
the most from your investment – and that your customers get the best
possible telephone response.
Get
the most from Private Networks
The Samsung DCS
helps you make the most of private circuits, or tie-lines, which
provide voice and data networking between multiple sites, utilising AC15
analogue lines.
What’s more, DCS lets you make optimum use of key private network
features, such as call transfer, desk-to-desk dialling over private lines
and break-in / break-out of calls over the private network, making DCS the
ideal solution for the private networking needs of many businesses.

Reaping
the Benefits of ISDN
ISDN is quite simply the most cost-effective way of
connecting your telephone system to the outside world.
That’s why the DCS supports both Primary Rate and Basic Rate
ISDN, so you can reap the functionality and cost benefits that ISDN
delivers.
These benefits include:
- Better
speech quality.
You get immediate, high-quality connections, giving you better
customer communications.
- Direct
Dial In (DDI).
This give you direct access to extensions or call groups,
giving customers quick access to the person or persons they need to
speak to.
- Calling
Line Identity (CLI).
Makes incoming call logging easy, and can tell DCS users who is
calling them.
- Trunk-to-trunk
connections. External calls can be routed back out over the public
telephone network to another number: ideal for out-of-hours working.
Primary
Rate
DCS supports the EURO ISDN protocol, giving you maximum
flexibility and future-proofing as standards migrate to EURO ISDN.
Basic
Rate
DCS supports Basic Rate ISDN with the EURO ISDN protocol.
DCS Basic Rate cards can be configured either for Basic Rate ISDN,
or as an S0 Bus – enabling cost-effective inter-office data routing over
dial-up lines.
S0
Bus
With DCS, you have an easy-to-implement method of linking
data devices to your phone system, giving you real economies of scale for
both inter-office and external communications.
The DCS Basic Rate ISDN card can be configured as an S0 Bus, but
supplying eight data sockets to which devices such as fax machines and PCs
can be attached using a suitable ISDN terminal adaptor.
Calls and data can be received by the DCS over Primary Rate ISDN,
with data routed through to the Basic Rate ISDN card and out onto the S0
Bus to the appropriate device.
LAN-to-LAN
Routing over ISDN
The DCS S0 Bus can also give you a complete inter-office
voice and data communications solution, combining the rich functionality
of private circuits for data traffic, with the flexibility and low costs
of a dial-up service.
Using Primary Rate ISDN to connect the DCS to the public network,
the user gains useful economies of scale in installation and rental costs.
The DCS is then linked to an ISDN LAN router by a Basic Rate ISDN
card configured as an S0 Bus.
In this way voice and data traffic can be received over Primary
Rate ISDN lines by the DCS, with data passed to the router over the S0
Bus, and from the router onto the LAN.
This enables high-bandwidth applications such as
videoconference, secure backup, inter-office data networking and
groupware.
By utilising the system’s ISDN capability, users are also able to
take advantage of the ever increasing benefits of internet access.
And because you are leveraging your existing equipment to its
fullest extent, your equipment and communication costs are kept to an
absolute minimum.
CTI
– The Business Benefits
There is no other comparable phone system which can introduce
the benefits of CTI to your business as easily, or as cost-effectively, as
the Samsung DCS.
It gives you the richest CTI functionality available, using the
industry’s two most established protocols – helping you to improve
communications and productivity throughout your company.
Quite simply, DCS downsizes CTI so that almost any organisation can
experience its benefits in their day-to-day business.
As with large-company PBXs, DCS enables PC users to access
key CTI functions, such as synchronised screen presentation, screen-based
telephone operation and contact management, by utilising off-the-shelf
software applications.
The benefits that your company can enjoy with DCS CTI
functionality are:
- Improved
customer service. Staff answering customer calls can have
the customer’s details and notes ready, without delay.
- Greater
productivity. Calls are handled faster and more
effectively. Staff can handle more calls per day, and get more
from those calls.
- Increased
revenue. Sales teams can make more calls, boosting sales.
And as customer details are in front of the sales agent, they can
create additional selling opportunities.
Microsoft
TAPI – Delivering Benefits at the Desktop
TAPI is the ideal method for
delivering CTI functions to small numbers of individual users, at low
cost.
And with the DCS TAPI interface**, a compact external module that
simply attaches to a desktop PC, the DCS delivered desktop calling
directories, call logging and on-screen handling of calls to any desktop
PC, with TAPI-compliant software, that is linked to a phone extension.
Novell
TSAPI – The Network Solution
The TSAPI computer telephone
integration method links the telephone system with the company LAN, so the
benefits of CTI can be networked throughout an organisation.
With the DCS TSAPI driver module** linked to your company network
and its applications, you can revolutionise your sales and service
operations with sophisticated call handling, groupware and office
automation techniques.
You can also integrate multiple messaging functions such as
voicemail, fax mail and email, for complete inbound and outbound message
management.
DCS
– The System for your Present and Future Needs
Because the Samsung DCS uses the
latest digital technology, it’s easy to adapt the system according to
your needs.
As your requirements grow the system grows with you, allowing up to
three DCS cabinets to be linked together, giving you a true large-company
phone system, while maintaining all of the advanced features and
functionality of the DCS.
In addition to expanding the system it is also possible to easily
add functionality through the DCS’ modular, card-based architecture,
making upgrades easy and efficient.
The DCS’ modular construction
also enables maintenance to be carried out without causing unnecessary
problems to users of the telephone system, minimising disruption and
helping to keep your operation up and running.
And with power failure protection, calls can be routed
automatically to single-line phones so that communications can continue.
When power is restored, the system automatically reverts back to
normal operation.
With state-of-the-art technology
from one of the world’s leading computing and IT companies, the Samsung
DCS is the phone system you can rely on.
